Creapure® in high-performance sport

Creatine is a bodily substance formed in the livers and kidneys from the amino acids glycine, arginine and methionine. Creatine and creatine phosphate play an important role in the supply of energy to the body. Since the 1990s, many athletes and scientists have found creatine in the form of creatine monohydrate to be the most effective dietary supplement for improving and increasing exercise levels, muscle strength, and fat-free body mass. Athletes across many disciplines – including cycling, sprinting, swimming and soccer – have taken creatine over many years with excellent results.

Creatine is classified as a so-called A category supplement by various sports organizations such as the Australian Institute of Sport, the Swiss Olympic board and the Swiss Sports Nutrition Society. This means that the performance-enhancing effect of creatine intake is recognized and supported in certain situations.

Creatine FAQ

More energy through creatine

  • Energy sources: ATP and creatine phosphate
  • Anaerobic energy supply effort
  • Increased energy levels through creatine
  • Increased muscle strength

In the case of short, intensive stress – such as sprinting or forced loads – the muscles need higher levels of energy in the shortest possible time. At the beginning of such anaerobic exercise (involving metabolic processes without oxygen), the muscle cells must therefore resort to energy sources which are immediately available. These are stored in the body in the form of the substances adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and creatine phosphate. The increased availability of creatine and creatine phosphate increases the supply of energy and leads to improved performance. ATP and creatine phosphate therefore help bridge the time until the breakdown of glucose (glycolysis), glycogen (glycogenolysis) and fat (lipolysis and fatty acid oxidation) can release further energy.

In addition, creatine leads to increased build-up of muscle mass and strength.

Creapure®, the source of pure creatine monohydrate

  • Nutritional supplements for athletes
  • The highest purity level of Creapure®
  • Creapure® is on the Cologne List®

Creapure® is the brand name for creatine monohydrate produced by Alzchem AG in Germany. Our specially-designed production facility is located in the Bavarian town of Trostberg and is subject to the highest standards in terms of quality, cleanliness and safety. Every batch of Creapure® is carefully tested for purity before leaving the factory. Creapure® is listed on the Cologne List®. This means that it is regularly tested at the Olympiastützpunkt Rheinland in Germany for any contamination by steroids or stimulants. By the way, creatine is not on the banned list of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency).

Further effects of creatine

  • Buffering effect of creatine
  • Creatine in rehabilitation

Creatine monohydrate helps to stabilize cellular pH (acidity). This is particularly important in cases of intensive stress, where intracellular fluid is prone to hyperacidity. In addition, creatine also plays a role in balancing the different aerobic and anaerobic energy sources (eg glycolysis) available to the cells. The use of creatine supplementation can also be useful in rehabilitation. On the one hand, this helps to reduce loss of muscle mass during immobilization, but it also supports the build-up of muscle mass and strength during rehabilitation training.
